About Our Founder, Patrick S. Edwards

The mission behind our foundation comes from our founder’s personal experience. Patrick S. Edwards of Now What Edwards Family Foundation is a licensed clinical therapist and a returning citizen who holds a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from Eastern Michigan University and a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Michigan.

As a returning citizen himself, Patrick was grateful to have the support of family members as he transitioned to his new life. Even with the support he had, he faced many challenges and struggled to find a path forward. Based on his personal experience, he’s eager to work with this population and he wants others to realize that it’s never too late to turn your life around.

Patrick earned both his degrees in his 50s post-incarceration and wants to inspire others by showing that it's never too late to achieve success. The organization aims to assist returning citizens in understanding that reintegration is a continuous journey, not a final destination. It encourages them to stay focused and persistent, having patience with yourself along the way.

No returning citizen should have to walk this path alone. If you’re looking for support or resources in the Detroit area, contact us today to get the help you need.
